TalaStar Achieves 100% Governance Health Score

10 April 2026 · Kristal Jane Apurado, Founder & Director

The Milestone

Today, TalaStar Digital Ltd (Company No. 17060305) has published every governance document we set out to create. Our Governance Health Score — the internal metric we use to track how many of our planned compliance and ethical framework documents have been completed — has reached 100%.

This means that all 15 published governance documents and 3 active governance tools are now live on our website, freely accessible to investors, regulators, partners, suppliers, and the public.

What We Published

Our governance framework now includes:

In addition, we maintain three active governance tools:

  • Supplier Self-Assessment Tool — an interactive questionnaire for suppliers to evaluate their alignment with our Code of Conduct
  • Governance Pack PDF — a dynamically generated PDF compiling all documents for due diligence
  • Honest Roadmap — a real-time product status page showing the true development stage of every initiative

Why We Did This Before We Had To

TalaStar Digital is an early-stage technology company. We currently have no employees beyond the founder. We are below the statutory thresholds that trigger many of these requirements:

  • The Modern Slavery Act 2015 requires statements from organisations with £36M+ turnover. We are far below that.
  • The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 requires a written policy only when you have five or more employees. We have one.
  • The UK Bribery Act 2010 Section 7 defence of "adequate procedures" is typically built by companies with established operations. We are pre-revenue.

So why publish all of this now?

Because governance is not a checkbox exercise you do when regulators force you to. It is a foundational commitment that shapes how a company thinks, operates, and grows. We believe that:

  1. Trust is earned before it is needed. Investors, partners, and users should be able to see our governance posture before they commit to working with us — not after.
  2. Culture is set early. The ethical DNA of a company is established in its first decisions, not retrofitted after problems arise.
  3. Transparency is a competitive advantage. In a world of opaque AI companies and hidden practices, publishing everything openly is a differentiator.
  4. Proportionality is honest. Every document we publish honestly states our current size and stage. We do not pretend to be larger than we are. We explain what we do now and what we will do as we grow.

What "100%" Actually Means

Let us be precise about what this score represents:

It means: Every governance document we planned to publish has been published. Our internal target list is complete.

It does not mean:

  • That we are fully compliant with every regulation that will ever apply to us
  • That our policies are static and will never need updating
  • That we have achieved formal certification (e.g., ISO 27001 certification requires an external audit)
  • That we are a large, established institution with decades of compliance history

We are a small company with big commitments. The 100% score reflects the completion of our planned governance framework, not the absence of further work. Every document includes an annual review date, and we expect them to evolve as TalaStar grows.

What Comes Next

Reaching 100% is a milestone, not a destination. Here is what we are working on next:

  • Annual review cycle — All documents will be reviewed on their anniversary dates and updated as needed
  • ISO 27001 certification pathway — As we grow, we plan to pursue formal certification for our information security management system
  • Expanded training programmes — When we hire our first employees, governance training will be part of onboarding from day one
  • Supplier due diligence scaling — As our supply chain grows, our due diligence procedures will scale proportionately
  • Community feedback integration — We welcome feedback on any of our governance documents and will incorporate improvements

Download the Full Pack

All 15 documents are compiled into a single Governance Pack PDF that you can download from our Governance Pack page [blocked]. It includes a cover page, table of contents, key provisions for each document, and legal disclaimers.

This pack is designed for:

  • Investors conducting due diligence
  • Regulators reviewing our compliance posture
  • Partners and suppliers evaluating our ethical standards
  • Anyone who wants to understand how TalaStar governs itself

A Personal Note

Building TalaStar's governance framework has been one of the most meaningful parts of founding this company. It would have been easy to skip this work — to say "we'll do it when we're bigger" or "no one expects this from a startup." But that is precisely the thinking that leads to governance failures later.

Every document we published represents a genuine commitment, not a performative gesture. We wrote them to be honest, proportionate, and useful. We disclosed our limitations alongside our aspirations. We cited the specific legislation we align with so that anyone can verify our claims.

If you have questions about any of our governance documents, or if you believe we can improve them, please reach out. Governance is not a monologue — it is a conversation.
