Voluntary Commitment

Health & Safety Policy

TalaStar Digital Ltd is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all persons working for or on behalf of the company, and any persons who may be affected by our activities. This policy is published voluntarily as part of our commitment to responsible governance from day one.

Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 | Effective: 10 April 2026 | Version 1.0

Transparency Notice

TalaStar Digital Ltd (Company No. 17060305) is an early-stage technology company currently operated solely by its founder. The company operates as a remote-first, digital-first business with no permanent physical office premises. While the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 applies to all employers, TalaStar publishes this policy voluntarily before reaching the statutory threshold of five employees that triggers a written policy requirement under Section 2(3).

This policy is proportionate to our current size and activities. As TalaStar grows, hires employees, and potentially operates from physical premises, this policy will be expanded with additional procedures, training programmes, appointed competent persons, and formal risk assessments. We believe that building a safety culture starts before it is legally required.

The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974

The HSWA 1974 is the primary piece of UK legislation covering occupational health and safety. It places duties on employers, employees, and self-employed persons to ensure health, safety, and welfare at work.

Section 2

General Duties of Employers

Every employer shall ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety, and welfare at work of all employees. This includes safe systems of work, a safe working environment, adequate training, and information.

Section 3

Duties to Non-Employees

Every employer shall conduct their undertaking in such a way as to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that persons not in their employment who may be affected are not exposed to risks to their health or safety.

Section 7

Duties of Employees

Every employee shall take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work, and cooperate with the employer.

Section 2(3)

Written Policy Requirement

Every employer with five or more employees must prepare and revise a written statement of their general policy on health and safety, and bring it to the attention of all employees. TalaStar publishes this voluntarily before reaching this threshold.

Display Screen Equipment (DSE)

Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992

All persons working for or on behalf of TalaStar Digital who habitually use display screen equipment as a significant part of their normal work are classified as DSE users. As a remote-first company, we provide a DSE self-assessment checklist and encourage ergonomic workspace configuration.

Our Commitments

DSE self-assessment checklist provided to all workers

Encouragement of regular breaks (at least 5 minutes every hour of continuous DSE use)

Eye test contribution for habitual DSE users (when employees are hired)

Mental Health & Wellbeing

Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999

TalaStar Digital recognises that mental health is as important as physical health. As a technology company operating in high-pressure innovation and research environments, we are committed to creating a culture where mental health is openly discussed, supported, and never stigmatised. This includes managing workload expectations, providing access to support resources, and maintaining a zero-tolerance policy on bullying or harassment.

Our Commitments

Open-door policy for discussing mental health concerns

Reasonable workload expectations with clear boundaries

Access to mental health resources and support information

Zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, or discrimination

Encouragement of work-life balance, especially in remote settings

Electrical Safety

Electricity at Work Regulations 1989

While TalaStar Digital operates primarily in digital environments, any physical workspace — including home offices — must maintain basic electrical safety. All electrical equipment used for work purposes should be in good condition, properly maintained, and used in accordance with manufacturer instructions. Portable appliance testing (PAT) applies to any company-owned equipment.

Our Commitments

Guidance on safe use of electrical equipment in home offices

PAT testing for any company-owned portable electrical equipment

Reporting mechanism for faulty or damaged equipment

Replacement or repair of unsafe equipment without delay

Fire Safety

Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005

TalaStar Digital does not currently operate from a permanent physical office. However, should any physical premises be used — including co-working spaces, meeting venues, or event locations — fire safety assessments will be conducted in accordance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. For remote workers, we provide guidance on home fire safety as a duty of care.

Our Commitments

Fire risk assessment for any physical premises used by TalaStar

Home fire safety guidance provided to remote workers

Emergency evacuation procedures for any company events or meetings

Compliance with venue fire safety requirements for all off-site activities

First Aid & Emergency Response

Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981

TalaStar Digital maintains awareness of first aid requirements proportionate to its size and activities. As a sole-founder digital company, the current first aid need is minimal. However, as the company grows and conducts in-person activities, first aid provisions will be scaled accordingly, including appointed first aiders, first aid kits, and emergency contact procedures.

Our Commitments

Emergency contact information maintained and accessible

First aid provisions scaled as the company grows

First aid training for designated persons when employees are hired

Emergency procedures documented for any company events

Risk Assessment

Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999

TalaStar Digital conducts risk assessments proportionate to its activities. As a digital-first technology company, the primary risks relate to display screen equipment use, mental health, and lone working. Risk assessments are reviewed annually or when significant changes occur to working practices, equipment, or personnel.

Our Commitments

Annual risk assessment review cycle

Risk assessments for any new activities or significant changes

Documented risk assessment records maintained

Findings communicated to all affected persons

Lone Working & Remote Safety

As a remote-first company currently operated by a sole founder, lone working is the primary mode of operation. TalaStar Digital recognises the specific risks associated with lone working, including isolation, delayed emergency response, and mental health impacts. The following measures are in place:

Regular check-in routines to maintain contact and accountability

Emergency contact information readily accessible

Clear guidance on when to stop work if feeling unwell or unsafe

Mental health support resources and encouragement to seek help

As the team grows: buddy systems, regular welfare checks, and formal lone working procedures
